For lenders, investors, public sector decision makers and homeowners alike, strong outcomes start with valuation partners who are embedded in the communities they serve, and advice that combines national capability with deep local knowledge.
It is this principle that underpins Opteon New Zealand's continued expansion across the North Island, marking a significant milestone in the organisation's long-term growth strategy and its commitment to delivering trusted, high-quality property valuation services nationwide.
As demand grows for accurate, defensible and timely valuation advice across residential mortgage lending, commercial and industrial assets, and government and rating work, Opteon is investing in people and capability where it matters most: on the ground, in the regions our clients operate.
The Lower North Island presents a diverse and evolving property environment. Wellington's residential market reflects a complex mix of density, affordability pressures, infrastructure investment and government influence. For financial institutions, brokers, advisors and councils working in this market, valuation advice must be both locally informed and consistently delivered.
At the centre of Opteon's Wellington expansion is the appointment of Jack Whiteman, who joins the firm as a Registered Residential Valuer based in Lower Hutt.
Jack brings substantial experience from his time at QV, where he worked as a Senior Consultant and Registered Valuer, delivering both market and rating valuations across the region. His background equips him with a strong understanding of greater Wellington's residential property dynamics, including the nuances that influence value at a suburb-by-suburb level.
Jack's focus is on residential market valuations throughout the Wellington region, supporting banks, lenders and mortgage brokers with reliable, well-considered advice that reflects current market conditions.
Strengthening the Kāpiti Coast Presence
Complementing the Wellington expansion is Opteon's continued investment in the Kāpiti Coast, a region experiencing sustained growth driven by improved transport connectivity, changing work patterns, lifestyle-driven demand and increasing commercial activity.
To support this demand, Opteon has welcomed two highly experienced Registered Valuers whose local connections and technical expertise significantly enhance service delivery across the coast, Porirua and north to Levin.
Registered Valuer Pip Sinclair brings years of experience and a deep, personal connection to the Kāpiti region. Based in Waikanae, Pip is well known for her approachable manner, strong client relationships and dedication to delivering high-quality valuation work. Her experience spans a wide range of residential and lifestyle valuation assignments, and she is recognised for her ability to tackle complex matters with clarity and professionalism. Her long-standing presence in the local market provides valuable insight for clients seeking advice that reflects both data-driven analysis and on-the-ground understanding.
Joining the Kāpiti Coast team shortly after Pip was Amelia Kirton, a Registered Valuer with a strong background in commercial and industrial property, predominantly across the Kāpiti Coast and areas north of Wellington. Amelia thrives on the detail and variety of commercial valuation work and values building long-term client relationships based on trust, transparency and strong outcomes. Her experience supports lenders, investors and advisors seeking informed guidance across a broad range of commercial assets.
Living locally with her husband and three children, and transitioning from Paraparaumu Beach to a lifestyle block in Otaihanga, Amelia is closely connected to the communities and markets she works in.
Together, Pip and Amelia significantly strengthen Opteon's ability to deliver residential, lifestyle, commercial and industrial valuation services across the Kāpiti Coast including Porirua, supporting clients as the region continues to grow and diversify.
Further north, Opteon has extended its footprint into one of New Zealand's fastest-growing regions, offering residential mortgage valuation services in the Bay of Plenty for the first time.
Leading this expansion is Maté Finlay, a Registered Valuer based in the Tauranga region, who rejoined Opteon New Zealand in May. Maté brings more than six years' experience across the New Zealand property industry, including previous roles with Opteon's Government & Advisory team and, most recently, with Property Solutions (BOP) Ltd, where he completed residential and lifestyle valuations across Tauranga, the Western Bay of Plenty, Whakatane and Rotorua.
A University of Auckland Bachelor of Property graduate admitted as a Registered Valuer in December 2024, Maté has extensive experience valuing residential, lifestyle and development properties for mortgage security, market value, relationship property, estate and acquisition purposes, and has advised major lenders, private clients, solicitors, accountants and government organisations.
With coverage now spanning Tauranga City, Western Bay of Plenty District, Whakatane District and Rotorua District, Maté's appointment deepens Opteon's on-the-ground presence and local market knowledge for lenders and clients across the wider Bay of Plenty. Mate's experience in the residential and lifestyle market complements and strengthens the offering of our Tauranga office, joined with commercial and industrial valuer, Ben Roberts.
National Support, Local Delivery
While Opteon's regional growth is driven by locally embedded valuers, it is underpinned by a strong national leadership and quality framework that supports consistency, governance and depth of expertise across all regions.
At a national level, Hoa Quan, Head of Quality Assurance for the Government Services Team leads the quality, compliance, and continuous improvement framework for our government contracts. His oversight ensures valuation outputs are robust, well governed and consistently meet the Office if the Valuer General (OVG) standards, regulatory requirements, and client expectations. The strengthens confidence in our services among Council clients, property owners and the Office of the Valuer General. Zoe Pullar, nationally renowned Revaluation Manager, joins our Government Services Team in September, with over a decade of experience leading complex and high-risk revaluation projects.
Adding leadership depth in the upper North Island, Michael Power recently joined Opteon as Regional Director in Waikato, bringing extensive experience across commercial, industrial and residential valuation, together with specialist expertise in compensation, leasehold and complex property matters. Prior to joining Opteon, Michael worked with the New Zealand Transport Agency (NZTA) as a Senior Property Acquisition Manager, where he was responsible for managing large-scale property acquisition programmes and developed a strong working knowledge of the Public Works Act 1981 and statutory acquisition processes. Before moving into the public sector, Michael spent five years as a Registered Valuer with Prendos, undertaking a broad range of commercial and residential valuations throughout Auckland for purposes including mortgage security, compensation, rent reviews, insurance, matrimonial matters, arbitration and leasehold interests.
Opteon's regional teams are further supported by senior valuation leadership, including Paul McCorry, who contributes strategic oversight, mentoring and technical depth across the business. As Director of Operations, Paul joined Opteon in 2025, bringing decades of experience in commercial and industrial property valuation and a strong reputation for handling complex assets and high-value assignments. His expertise spans investment-grade property, specialised assets and major commercial projects, providing depth of insight that supports both client outcomes and the development of Opteon's valuation teams nationally.
For brokers and advisors, this growth means working with valuers who understand local market drivers. For investors and developers, it ensures valuation advice is grounded in real market conditions. And for councils and government agencies, it reinforces Opteon's capacity to deliver robust, defensible valuation outcomes.
"Our expansion reflects a deliberate focus on strengthening local capability while maintaining the high standards our clients expect nationally," says Paul. "By investing in experienced valuers who know their markets intimately, we're continuing to build a team that can deliver trusted, consistent advice."
As property markets continue to respond to economic change, infrastructure investment and population shifts, Opteon remains focused on its strategy: to be the leading provider of property valuation services across New Zealand, recognised for quality, excellence and delivery.
