International property valuation and advisory services company Opteon has continued to expand its New Zealand operations, now providing property valuation services in the Waikato region.
This exciting move is in response to the Hamilton City, and its surrounding districts, housing market which is experiencing its strongest residential boom, in both house sale prices and number of new dwellings consented, since the financial crisis of 2008.
Commenting on this trend, Opteon Country Director – NZ Derek Smith said this was partly due to a ‘spill over’ effect from the Auckland market, where both investors and first home buyers have been seeking more affordable property.
“It’s also the big-ticket projects underway in the region, including major inland ports, freight hubs, new major expressway links, city centre riverside developments, and the new Government-backed suburban projects in the southwest, really making the Waikato region an exciting place to be.” Mr. Smith said.
The latest Real Estate Institute of New Zealand statistics reveal a median house price across the Waikato Region of $503,000. The number of homes sold in Hamilton rose to 294 during February, up from 162 during January 2018. This compares to 262 homes sold during February 2017, representing a 12% increase year-on-year.
Opteon registered valuer Simon-Peter Finlay has relocated to the Waikato from Auckland to be closer to family. He previously specialised in residential property valuations in the South Auckland and Franklin areas.
Simon-Peter is looking forward to the challenge of building the Opteon brand locally and providing excellent service to his clients in the Waikato region.
