Industry Experience
Maté Finlay joined Opteon New Zealand in May 2026 and has more than six years of experience across the New Zealand property industry. He holds a Bachelor of Property from the University of Auckland and was admitted as a Registered Valuer in December 2024. Prior to rejoining Opteon, Maté worked with Property Solutions (BOP) Ltd, undertaking residential and lifestyle valuations throughout Tauranga, the Western Bay of Plenty, and the Rotorua regions. He previously worked with Opteon between 2020 and 2024, completing both rating and private valuation assignments across Northland and Waikato.
Maté has extensive experience in the valuation of residential, lifestyle, and development properties for mortgage security, market value, relationship property, estate, acquisition, and disposal purposes. He has also undertaken valuation work for local authorities, including Auckland Council, contributing to large-scale rating valuation and mass appraisal programs. Throughout his career, Maté has provided valuation advice to major lending institutions, private clients, solicitors, accountants, and government-related organisations. His strong market knowledge, analytical approach, and commitment to professional standards enable him to deliver accurate and reliable valuation outcomes across a broad range of property types.
