Data Security at Opteon

Data security is a serious issue across the globe.

New Zealand’s National Cyber Security Centre determined that in the 2018-19 financial year, 38% of the total recorded incidents involved indicators that had been linked to state-sponsored computer network exploitation groups.

At Opteon, we take data security very seriously. Our customers and partners trust us to keep their information safe, and with over 1.7 million property valuations completed in the last five years, we hold a significant amount of data that needs to be protected from cyber attacks and other security incidents.

We are thrilled to announce that Opteon has achieved ISO 27001 certification, which means that the technology and infrastructure that supports the delivery of Opteon’s property valuation services has been examined by an accredited auditor and found to be compliant.

This is a significant achievement which supports Opteon’s vision to be the leading independent global property solutions provider powered by innovation, data intelligence and technology. Our information security management system (ISMS) is a large component in the successful delivery of property valuations while maintaining the security and privacy of our customers.

The certification demonstrates that Opteon’s information security management system – the framework of policies and procedures encompassing all the business and corporate functions involved in information risk management processes – meets the rigorous certification process, which covers:

  • Protection of information from unauthorised access
  • Accuracy of information
  • Limited access to authorised users
  • Assessment of risks
  • Mitigation of the impact of any breach

One of Opteon’s core values is make it safe. The value applies to all areas of our business, from making sure our valuers are safe out on the road, to the Virtual Valuation we launched in order to protect our people and customers as the COVID-19 pandemic took hold.

Make it safe also applies to the way we manage and protect our data, including the information entrusted to us by our customers. Achieving ISO 27001 certification ensures that we have established methodologies and the framework to identify, manage, and reduce risks to the security of this information, and brings our customers an additional level of confidence when partnering with Opteon.
