Bringing Jaro to Life in Fairhope: Hands-On Training with the Gulf Team
There’s something powerful about getting out from behind the screen and into the field and that’s exactly what we set out to do in Fairhope, Alabama earlier this month.
Over two days, our team came together with appraisers from across the Gulf region for immersive, in-person training focused on the Jaro technology suite.
The goal was simple. Give appraisers the chance to experience Jaro in a practical, hands-on way, supported by people who use it every day.
Day One: In the Field with JaroInspect
We kicked things off in the field with a hands-on demonstration of JaroInspect, led by appraiser Michael Klouchek who shared how he integrates the technology into his workflow based on over a year of real-world use.
The group visited two properties, splitting into smaller teams to ensure everyone had the chance to actively participate. Rather than watching from the sidelines, appraisers rolled up their sleeves:
- Scanning properties in real time
- Walking through full site inspections
- Practicing workflows multiple times
- Learning practical tips and shortcuts directly from Michael
- Data import from MLS and third-party sources
- Appraiser Intelligence tools
- A structured workflow that feels different from traditional software
Because Michael works in the same market as many of the Gulf team, the training felt especially relevant. This gave the entire team a chance to connect with local colleagues in a meaningful way, turning our training session into the start of stronger professional relationships.
What stood out most was the incredible energy. The group approached the new technology with curiosity, collaboration, and a willingness to jump in and learn by doing.
"In my experience, hands-on training is far more effective than learning through online modules, and I truly appreciate that they traveled to provide us with this level of support. They welcomed every question and were genuinely receptive to feedback about both the software and the process, always looking for ways to help us and improve the platform. Their positive attitude and willingness to support us made a lasting impression. I look forward to continuing to learn, grow, and be part of the Opteon family," David Tucker said.
Day Two: Building Reports with JaroKit
The second day moved into the Fairhope office, where the focus shifted to JaroKit and the reporting process.
Chris Ridgeway, Regional Manager, led the training, walking through how to complete an appraisal report from start to finish. The session included both in-person attendees and participants joining through Teams, creating a collaborative and interactive learning environment.
Throughout the day, the group stayed highly engaged, asking questions, sharing feedback, and exploring features together. Several capabilities stood out as immediate favorites:
For many appraisers, the ability to reduce manual data entry immediately stood out as a game changer and unlock new levels of efficiency in their work.
While it was a full day, the outcome was clear: the team left better equipped and more confident in their ability to begin transitioning into the Jaro platform for UAD 3.6 production.
“Fairhope was a great experience all around. We partnered with our new team members for a hands-on introduction to JaroInspect, walking through two test homes and working through the process together in real time. There was a lot of great collaboration and knowledge sharing, which carried right into the classroom session with Chris and helped tie everything together. The whole visit had a really positive, team-first feel and made for a smooth, engaging onboarding experience. Since then, it’s been great to see that communication and support are still going strong with the same momentum,” said Michael Klouchek.
What We Learned
Beyond the technical training, a few key themes emerged:
1. Enthusiasm Drives Adoption
The Gulf team embraced the challenge of change head-on. Their openness and engagement made the sessions more impactful and set the tone for successful adoption.
2. Collaboration Makes a BIG Difference
There was a strong sense of camaraderie throughout. Appraisers supported each other, shared insights, and worked through challenges as a team.
3. Excitement Around the technology
Features like data import and Appraiser Intelligence sparked real interest. The group quickly saw how these tools can streamline workflows and improve efficiency.
4. In-Person Training Matters
While virtual sessions have their place, this experience reinforced the value of being together in the field. The ability to adapt in real time, provide hands-on guidance, and build stronger relationships made a lasting impact that would be difficult to replicate remotely.
Building Momentum
These two days were about more than training. They were about building confidence, creating connections, and helping the Gulf team take the next step with Jaro.
With guidance from Michael in the field and Chris in the office, the team left with practical experience and a clear path forward.
And perhaps most importantly, they did it together.
