Industry Experience
2018-Current
Melanie joined Opteon, covering the North West Coast to the West Coast of Tasmania, initially providing residential and rural residential valuations for mortgage reporting and non-mortgage reporting purposes including residential expert witness, stamp duty, capital gains, retrospective, land acquisition, pre-sale, pre-purchase and market valuations. In 2021 Melanie began completing rural reports for Opteon (after enjoying agri valuation work in SA before the move to Tas), which has quickly become a passion.
2011-2018
Nab Valuations providing residential and rural residential valuation reports for mortgage purposes in the North and North West of Tasmania.
2010-2011
Cradle Coast Valuers providing residential mortgage valuations on the North West Coast of Tasmania.
2003-2008
State Valuation Office in South Australia conducting mass valuation work, rental values, new constructions/ extensions, land amalgamations and sub-divisions for Local Government Areas; and valuation reports for various Government bodies in the South East of South Australia.
Prior to 2003
Preceding work in property valuation, Melanie commenced her property career in conveyancing before heading to real estate, where her roles included being a valuation and sales assistant, then becoming a real estate agent. There was also a short stint as a Water Licensing Officer in the Department of Water, Land and Biodiversity. All providing an invaluable grounding before studying to become a valuer.
