As a finalist for Property Professional of the Year in RICS Australia’s 2020 Awards, Opteon is taking this opportunity to spotlight the exceptional career of our Director Technical Services, William Reynolds.
William’s contribution to the property valuation industry is evident throughout his career which spans over 35 years.
With a Bachelor of Business (Land Economy) and as a Fellow of the Australian Property Institute (API), William has a broad range of expertise, including commercial and hospitality property valuations, complex agribusiness valuations, rental assessments and arbitrations and feasibility studies of development projects.
William’s commitment to excellence in property valuations across Opteon and the wider industry can be seen in his ongoing participation in the sector, from receiving the AIVLE award (now API) for Outstanding Academic Achievement in 1991, through to his current role as Chair of the API Tasmanian Committee.
An active contributor to the Australian Property and Valuation Standards Board, William has been an integral part of the development of property valuations as we know them today, refining various Valuation Standards to support ongoing improvements in the industry.
William helped innovate valuation practices in the eighties by embracing emerging technology to capture property data. In doing so, he helped propel the industry forward, reducing human error and maximising the information collected, which created a pathway toward a paperless delivery system.
Further to his innovative work in the eighties, in the mid-2000s William worked collaboratively with ValuePRO Founder and Managing Director Piers Cockram to evolve an industry-leading IT platform for valuers that included a commercial leasing and sales database and interface for valuation reports.
William also authored a comprehensive Valuer Manual for Opteon’s professional staff to assist with the practical operations of valuation practice, and as a tool for Opteon’s Graduate Valuer Training Program. This Manual is a vital resource for valuers across the country and enables every staff member to benefit from William’s insights and experience.
William has been and continues to be a driving force in the valuation industry, particularly in Tasmania where he has maintained a strong interest in standards and policy.
William’s energy and influence has now extended into a national role as Director Technical Services within Opteon. He has mentored many of Opteon’s talented valuers nationally, helping shape the next generation of property professionals.
We congratulate William for his recognition as a finalist in the RICS Australia Awards 2020.
