Born and raised on Kangaroo Island, valuer Mark Cooper is returning home
He has worked around the South Coast of New South Wales and New Zealand’s North Island, valuing residential, rural residential, agribusiness, industrial, commercial, plant and equipment, and rating and taxing property types.
Experience with such a breadth of properties has given Mark invaluable insight into the complex nature of valuation advice, and the myriad of elements that comprise an evidence-based valuation report.
Mark originally hails from Kangaroo Island in South Australia, a spectacular spot known as nature’s playground with a rugged coastline, crystal clear water and some of Australia's most interesting wildlife. Following many years on the mainland and in New Zealand, Mark has now made the decision to head back home to live on Kangaroo Island.
Accompanied by his family, Mark will be uniquely positioned to provide Opteon’s customers with insight-driven valuations in the region, delivered by a local who truly understands the area.
The fact that Mark will be living on the island also means a shorter turnaround time for our customers on most property types. Sometimes valuing properties in regional areas can take longer to complete, but Mark's new home base means that Opteon can deliver reports from the Kangaroo Island and Fleurieu Peninsula region more quickly.

Mark’s move increases Opteon’s considerable postcode coverage in Australia, which currently sits at a market-leading 98%.
Opteon is delighted to add a local Kangaroo Island valuer to the team. Bushfires on the island in December 2019 and January 2021 had catastrophic impact on people, homes, nature, tourism and businesses. As Kangaroo Island continues to recover, rebuild and regenerate, Mark and his family will be a welcome addition to the region.
