From Customer Service to Learning & Development Consultant | An Opteon Success Story

What is your current role, and how long have you been with Opteon to date?
I am the Learning and Development consultant, and I have been with Opteon for 7 years as of July this year.
Can you describe your journey from when you first started to where you are now?
I began my journey as a Valuer Support Coordinator in our Geelong office, I was booking jobs for valuers initially in the Victorian/Tasmanian team. We then developed an inbound team where I was then booking for valuers across all the Eastern coast of Australia. During this time, I was also able to gain experiences as an acting team leader, when a team leader was on leave, I was able to step into their position, gaining great experiences and developing my leadership skills. I also applied for a mentorship program with our Performance coach to learn and develop myself as trainer within the business. I worked with them to assist in the onboarding of our employees and worked with them in their first weeks on the floor to set them up for success.
When we came to working from home during the covid lockdowns, I moved to the customer service team, expanding my experiences in the company and assisted our customers with all the general enquiries and follow up on the jobs in our system. After a few months, an opportunity arose in our resource planning team, working with our valuers to assign them the right jobs, and making sure there was coverage in the area.
I continued with that team until there was an opening as a team leader in the customer service team, I applied and was successful for the role and moved into the leadership position. This was such a great time and opportunity to grow and develop individuals along with dealing with stakeholders in the business and working towards team KPIs and process development.
This team leader role gave me great satisfaction, after a short time there was an opportunity to move to the Learning and Development team which was where my passions lay. I applied for the role and was successful and moved into the team and have been here since. I love being able to help develop people and seeing them be the best they can be, making sure they have the resources they need and setting them up for success so they can have an incredible career.
The support that I have received in my time through at Opteon has been outstanding, my leaders could see my passion and drive and really helped me, pushed me and we able to provide me the opportunities to grow and develop myself.
How would you describe the company culture, and how has it supported your success?
Opteon fosters a culture of openness and growth, where people feel safe to question, innovate, and drive change. By encouraging curiosity and valuing diverse perspectives, the environment supports continuous learning and personal development. Over the past seven years, this culture has supported my own career journey—giving me the confidence to ask questions, take on new challenges, and grow into roles I never imagined when I first started.
What do you love about working at Opteon?
Working at Opteon is being part of a forward-thinking, inclusive team that values innovation, collaboration, and personal growth. There is a willingness to listen and change with opportunities to suggest improvements from anyone at any level.
What advice would you give to someone just starting a career at Opteon?
