Opteon wins Innovation in Property Award for Catalyst Program
Blog
Opteon has been recognised with the Australian Property Institute's Innovation in Property Award for our Catalyst Program, a business-wide initiative embedding artificial intelligence, Intelligent Document Processing and automation directly into the valuation workflow.
The award recognises Catalyst's success in moving beyond AI experimentation to deliver practical, scalable solutions that are already transforming how valuation work is completed across Australia.
Building AI into valuation practice
Rather than deploying AI as a standalone tool, Catalyst integrates intelligent automation directly within Halo, Opteon's valuation management system. This allows AI-driven processes to work in the background across thousands of jobs, helping streamline workflows while maintaining appropriate governance and oversight.
The technology reviews and classifies documents, extracts key information and automates workflow actions that previously required manual intervention.

Delivering measurable impact
Since launch, Catalyst has reviewed more than 125,000 documents across more than 25,000 jobs nationally. The platform now supports a range of production-ready automations, including commercial lease processing, residential valuation preparation and title search and plan purchasing.
Among the outcomes delivered:
- More than 5,000 title searches and plans automatically actioned.
- Commercial lease processing saving approximately 3,900 valuer hours annually.
- Residential valuation workflows saving approximately 200 valuer hours each week.
- Ongoing optimisation reducing AI operating costs by approximately 37 per cent during 2026.
These efficiencies enable valuers to focus more of their time on analysis, insight and professional judgement while supporting improved turnaround times and client outcomes.
A team achievement
The Catalyst Program is led by a specialist team including Emmanuel Glykokalamos, Tahlee Lane, Johnathan McMaugh, Brayden de Koning and Peter Muma, working closely with valuation experts and business stakeholders across Opteon.
Their work continues to evolve, with additional AI-powered capabilities already being piloted across quality assurance, market commentary generation, workflow automation and client service enhancements.
Looking ahead
Innovation at Opteon is focused on solving real business challenges and creating meaningful value for clients, colleagues and the property industry.
The Catalyst Program demonstrates what's possible when technology, industry expertise and customer needs come together. Winning the Innovation in Property Award is an important milestone, but it is only the beginning of what's next.
