More Than a Job. A Career That Moves With You.
We are often asked, "What comes after CPV?" or "If people leadership isn't for me, what are my options?"
The possibilities for career direction at Opteon are wide and we often find each one of us want something very different from our careers. Some are motivated by running teams, mentoring young valuers and taking responsibility for a region, while others are passionate about quality standards, training and what good looks like for our industry. Plenty of people find their valuation experience opens doors they never expected, in areas like digital, compliance or transformation. Career Pathways gives every one of those ambitions a clear way forward.
What are Career Pathways?
Career Pathways shows how a career at Opteon can progress, from graduate entry through to Certified Practising Valuer, and from there in whichever direction suits you.

There are three main tracks:
Expert Career Track — For the people colleagues call when a job gets complicated. This track moves from Certified Practising Valuer through Senior Valuer, Specialist and Expert to Head of Department, and it recognises deep technical skill as a career in its own right.
Leadership Career Track — For people who get their energy from building teams and developing others. It runs from Associate Director through Regional Director and National Director to General Manager.
You Define Career Track — For people drawn to the wider business. Roles in Business Excellence, Compliance and Risk, Digital and Innovation, and Projects and Transformation all benefit from someone who understands how a valuation really gets done.
You're not locked in
The most important part of the framework isn't the tracks, it's the bridges between them. A valuer can step into leadership after years in the field. Someone who has led a team for a while can move back into a specialist role if that's where their passion lies. Someone working in a corporate team can even retrain as a valuer. Moving across is built into the framework, and we expect people to use it.
Backed by real support
A pathway only helps if you have the support to follow it. Opteon Academy runs structured learning at every stage, from graduate fundamentals through to leadership development, and you'll have senior valuers and leaders around you to learn from along the way. We also provide paid study days and professional memberships, and there's a clear route from RPV to CPV for people early in their careers.
“One of our strengths as a business is the diversity of careers within it. Career Pathways make that visible and achievable for our people. Regardless of where someone is now, supporting great people to achieve their career goals is always rewarding and is just one of the reasons Opteon is a great place to work and build your career.
Looking back over the years and reflecting on the directions people have taken their careers is rarely a surprise in hindsight. Understand your interests and strengths, and lean into the opportunities at Opteon!”
- Michael McNulty, National Director - Residential and Regional Valuation
Where could yours go?
Career Pathways isn't a theory. It reflects journeys people are already making across Opteon, and over the coming weeks we'll be sharing their stories in their own words. A few to start with:
Adam began as a valuer in regional Victoria and followed a path that eventually led him into training and change management. Today he's our National Manager, Transformation Projects.
Avella joined us as a graduate valuer in Perth. She now runs our New Zealand operations as National Director, NZ.
Luke was working on our IT help desk when he decided he wanted to value property. He's now a Residential Valuer.
Your career doesn't have to follow one line. Ours certainly don't.
